I did a test run today for an upcoming advertising shoot for Mainostoimisto Speciaali. “Hangout”, maybe this is the thing ups in your mind when looking at this photo. If your answer is yes, we have synchronized minds. Yet, my concept was not merely the same as it is. At first, intended to create a concept where ladies are waiting for friends. Then, I changed to just making two of them as the focus. Therefore, I used the smaller car with only two persons.

You may ask, “why didn’t you have more girls?” Yes, I actually once thought about that. When many girls come together it can look more interesting, that is cheerleader effect. However, many in films, stories, or images picture two women share a similar characteristic, and it is also interesting. Like many in Barbie films or teen films, two girls with different personality yet similar appearance are interesting. Hence, I thought to need such concept.

I decided to image one girl as the blonde and another as the brown hair, just like common concept. The brown one who has darker hair also has stronger appearance features. Meanwhile, the blonde has a softer image. Then, I tried to make the photo looks dramatic. This is my taste in photography. Fortunately, the blue color of the car is very nice to make a sleek image. I decided not to make the green background really dominant because the overall impression will be nice only with girls in the car.

At the end, the concept I tried to transfer is the classical beauty. Not only the beauty of the girls but overall look the girls in the car. The scheme of girl and the car is applied in a car dealer. The car looks more interesting with the girl. Of course in this photo, I did not make the car as the main focus, yet the car looks beautiful with the girls.

I synchronized the classic car with the look of girls. Hence, the hair dos were intentionally created so. The classic style can produce more dramatic nuance, in many things. Additionally, the girls saw the camera from behind. There is a reason behind this, I needed to show up the behind part of the car that is unique and classic. Instead of choosing the photo with the front angle, this photo from the back is better. I made the girls and car focus being sharper, so the color looks more stunning and contrasts from the background. Hence the main perception for the photo is the girls are going to a party.

I had thought that it might be hard to snap a child in his best emotion. Then I realized that kids always have the most honest expressions. Therefore, I did not get any significant hurdles snapping this boy. The main difficulty was just dealing with his super active movements. Yet, gratefully with one and two lures, he was able to follow my direction. Hence, from the several snaps, I chose this one as the best.

I did not purposely make this photo as fashion snap, yet it partly comes that way in natural. Although this boy looks chic in his coat and hat, I never thought this photo will look fashionable. Yet, talking about being fashionable in photography, this snap has it all. The costumes and the tones were very supportive. Kids are always cute in adults’ costumes. Yet, I did not want to erase all the childlike nuances, thus I let him bring a doll.

Fortunately, when I was taking this photo, the background nuance was in the same tone with this boy costumes. This is the most beautiful railway I found. Not only because it is so tranquil, but the nature is very pretty. I did not take much effort for this photo since the grass and plants colors are naturally brownish-green.

I intended to make a concept like coming back to the homeland and it was a success. The light of the sky was not too bright or too dim. The sky was yellowish, so it fell beautifully on the street and the grass. I think the season played the best role when I tried to create such background.

Working with this little model was quite funny. Although I did not forcibly make them with certain postures, he followed the harmony naturally. I think he is quite good in positioning his body. He was simply staring at us and bringing two items in both hands.

When you look at this snap deeper, the items in both hands impress different feeling. The suit with scratches looks mature and classic. Meanwhile, the doll impresses his cuteness. I did not tell him to bring the doll in a specific way, therefore this child focus comes naturally.

I hope in my next work with kids will come as good as this photo. The most interesting part is, of course, dressing them and indirectly luring them to make a certain pose.

I have taken countless pictures with mainstream poses. I could say that I am a little bit bored with sweet and calm poses. As a photographer, I want to challenge myself. It is necessary to explore so many different poses and styles. Otherwise, my photography skill will be the same. There would not be any progress. Therefore, I do not want to limit myself. I wanted to test my ability in taking shots. This time, I have a dancer as the main object of my photo shoot. There are many interesting aspects of this picture to share. I am pleased that I have a nice picture of the dancer.

This photo shoot is unique. I do not have to arrange the angle or the position of the model. Usually, I give the examples to the model. In the other time, I ask the model to fit with the theme of the photo shoot. However, it did not happen in this photo session. The one that had to arrange the best position was I! Yes, I had to catch the movement of the dancer. Therefore, I used all my photography skills to create great pictures. In addition, I still had to think about the artistic side. I wanted to have an energetic picture without forgetting the artsy aspects.

I did not choose a dance studio as the main location. I wanted something unique and natural. In my opinion, dancing should be a free activity. This piece of art flows like the river. We can dance anywhere we want. This is the spirit of a modern society. There are no boundaries when it comes to art. This message should be delivered perfectly. Therefore, I choose an empty garage for the location. The stone wall and the grey floor gave the urban look. They were modest. However, they have the modern accents that I wanted to show in the picture.

This photo shoot was very fast. It was because I did not take part in the movement of the dancer. I let her do the dance moves. While the model was moving and dancing, I tried my best to find the best shots. Suddenly, I caught a ballet like movement. The dancer was like a swan emerged from the lake. Her movement was smooth but powerful. Her hands moved gracefully. Meanwhile, her body bent and made a curve. This pose showed the flexibility of her body. Furthermore, I love the facial expression of the dancer. She enjoyed dancing and she did not shy at all to show it to the world.

Through my lenses, I have seen so many great poses and amazing views. I know that I cannot be separated from photography. I love it very much. It is more than a job for me. I want to share the joy and happiness for people. That is why; I will never get bored with pictures with cheerful and merry smiles. This time, the main objects are these beautiful girls. I have nothing to complain about this photo shoot. It was fun to take some pictures with them. Those girls were very energetic and creative. They brought the positive impacts to the photo shoot location. I did not want to disappoint them. It was such a waste if I did not get the best shot.

I was excited when I had the chance to have an outdoor photo shoot. I could get the natural lighting, which gave different touch in the pictures. The main attraction on this project was the girls. Therefore, I did not choose a complicated background. The simpler the background was the better the pictures. I wanted to create a different perspective. Therefore, the wooden floor was my secret weapon. I wanted to explore a different style for this photo shoot. It was a little bit unusual for lying on the floor. However, I was relieved when the girls did not complain about it.

The girls were very pretty. They wore plaid shirts and black bottoms. Their casual styles were perfect for this summer photo shoot. What was better than comfortable clothes? Moreover, they also wore simple accessories. I wanted to create the friendly girls-next-door image for them. Luxurious items did not fit well with their plaid shirts. It was better that way. However, I wanted to create a twist with their looks. Therefore, I asked the girls to wear the black sunglasses. I loved the way the sunglasses cover the half of their pretty face. I got the laid back but mysterious girls in front of me.

Recently, I have done some projects with usual poses. Therefore, I wanted something different for the girls. I had the wooden floor and I had to maximize it. As mentioned above, I had the girls lying on the wooden floor. Then, I asked them to have natural poses. As if, they were gossiping and laughing about something funny. The girls were very good and it was not difficult to cooperate with them. It was a wrap when I got the synchronized movement. Both of them touched the sunglasses at the same time. What a coincident!

I am not sticking to the pre-wedding photo shoots only. In photography, you are able to explore different types of genre. I love exploring various places and models. Of course, every photo shoot has its own story. This time, I will show you a lovely picture of teenagers in the summer. It is always fun to work in this season. I do not have to worry about the weather. I tried so many spots before deciding the photo shoot location. I thought it would be perfect to take some pictures in a court. It was a right decision. The models could explore and try different angles to get the best picture. It was easier to arrange the position when I had enough space.

I love this picture. The models are very talented and cooperative. I found a perfect location. Moreover, I could try different positions without hassles. I could not ask for more. Oh, I forget to mention the clothes. Those clothes are just perfect for this photo shoot. The models look effortlessly cool. I was glad that they did not have to wear thick and heavy clothes. With such comfortable shirts and jeans, they are able to pose without any distractions. I love the simple clothes here. It did not take a long time for the models to get into the right vibe.

Next, I did not find any difficulties in this photo shoot. As I said before, the models are very smart and professional. I can say that their poses are worth to capture. I began the first session with standing poses. Definitely, they knew how to create nice pictures. For the next session, I tried something different. Standing poses were too mainstream for those talented models. Therefore, I asked them to sit. The pretty girl was sitting in the middle of the male models. I just asked them to relax and find comfortable positions. Of course, they laughed and thanked me for letting them sit.

For a while, the models did not use any properties. Well, it was great but something missing. I wanted to create the best cheerful image. Later, I gave them a basketball and a heavily used skateboard as their properties. As seen in the picture, the model used the properties well. It was easier to create the wanted image with the right properties! Even the female model added her own headset. I let her do that and I realized that the gadget completed her look. Near the end of the photo session, I asked them to have the same pose. The smiled and made the peace sign. Their cheerful and attractive pose were exactly what I wanted.

It is never easy to deal with autumn. Of course, I love the color of fallen leaves in this season. In addition, I can get the romantic atmosphere without hassles in autumn. Everything is in the right vibe. In the other hands, the weather and the temperature are very challenging. It means I have to be well prepared and put more effort in taking and creating great pictures. Either loves it or hate it, this is the art of photography. I cannot blame the season, right? This time, I will share the story behind this picture. This is one of the most memorable pictures from the autumn pre-wedding photo shoot.

As I said before, taking pictures in autumn is quite challenging. The gloomy weather is my biggest obstacle. I have to race with the sun. I cannot postpone the photo shoot because I do not want to disappoint my clients. Therefore, I try to do the photo shoot in the morning or in the afternoon. This is for the sake of lighting. This lovely couple chose the afternoon for their pre-wedding photo shoot. Thankfully, I got a perfect timing. I took some great pictures before the sunset. I wanted to take some pictures of this romantic couple before everything went dark.

Look at this beautiful picture. I think this couple can deliver the message without difficulties. They are in love and they are ready to be united as a husband and a wife. I did not focus on the place. I just let the background as the way they were. I focused on the couple. They were very cooperative. When I asked them to do the romantic gestures, they just laughed. They said, ‘It is easy’. I knew that I would get some nice catches. The man embraced his fiancée lovingly. Meanwhile, the girl showed a great angle and closed her eyes. I could not let this moment slipped from my lenses. In less than one seconds I caught the best photography moment in this photo shoot.

I enjoyed this photo shoot. The combination of the smooth light, the perfect location, and the cooperative client were enough for me. This couple did not want to wear glamorous clothes. They wanted to have a natural pre-wedding. Therefore, they wore the proper clothes for an outdoor photo shoot. I am proud with the result. This picture is worth showing for their children and their grandchildren. Their expression was pure and loving. From this picture, you are able to see that they love each other.

Nothing can beat the sensation of falling in love. Finally, you can be with him. You are sure that he is the one. In short, you cannot live without him. It sounds cheesy, but it is the truth. You just want to share this moment with the others. It is such a waste to keep them all to yourself. Do not you want to take the pre-wedding photo shoot? It does not mean that you have to do an extravagant theme. Everything is possible as long as you love it. Here, I have a picture that can be your inspiration. Who says that a pre-wedding photo shoot should be over the top and glamour? There are no boundaries in photography. This is the art of capturing the best moments. I will make you fabulous.

I know that every client has their own imagination and taste. Of course, you do not have to force yourself to follow the trends. Choose the theme, the location, and wardrobe of your pre-wedding based on your interest. If you do not like all the gowns and bling jewelry, then you do not have to wear them. It is totally fine to wear comfortable clothes and sneakers. Look at the lovely couple in this picture. They were a very modest couple. They do not want to be someone else. Therefore, I suggested them to wear their favorite summer clothes for the pre-wedding photo shoot. They loved the idea. They wanted to be ‘the boy and the girl next door’. They did not want to wear the formal suits and dress. Therefore, they were happy because they can wear the shirt and summer dress for the photo shoot. Even the lovely girl wore the cowboy hat! What was more casual than that?

To be honest, it did not take a long time to build the mood. You might think that everything is complicated in photography. How about creating a lovely picture as this one? Was it difficult? Well, I can say that this couple was cooperative. I had no problem with them. They have strong chemistry. You can feel love is in the air. As seen in this picture, they have the brightest smile ever. I did not have to tell them what to do. Everything happened without any scenarios. I brought some properties for this photo shoot. It starts with a picnic bag to a huge mattress. However, those properties were forgotten.

When the couple took a break and played with a bicycle – which I did not know the owner – I knew that that was the right moment to take some pictures. That was the ‘It’ moment. They were having fun and playing with the bicycle. I could capture the lovey dovey moments without any hassles. Everything went smooth. The background was terrific. The couple was smiling and had great poses. I had enough natural lighting. Thank God the sun shone brightly. And voila! This is it. I call it as a simple but meaningful pre-wedding picture.

A mother’s love is everlasting. The relationship between a mother and her child is stronger than anything in this world. It is a sacred world that only the two of them share. Sure, you can say that a parents’ love is precious for their children. In reality, though, nothing can beat the love of a mother for her kids – not even the love of the father for his children.

Candid photography pictures of mothers and their children can be taken everywhere but there are rare occasions that you can find a picture that speaks louder than words. There are moments where a single shot can convey a strong meaning more than anything.

A Moment that Touches My Heart

I often take a walk around the city just to get a fresh air. But sometimes, I find great ideas and inspiration along the way. That’s why I always have my camera with me so I can take shots whenever a great scene comes along.

This picture may seem like a simple one but it touches my heart so deeply because of the strong bond the mother and her kid share together. Look at how firm their holding-hand grip. She holds his tiny hand and he holds her back in a trusting manner. They both look relaxed as they stroll up the road; their body languages speak the action that they are entrusting each other.

I also like the fact that they are comfortable with their style – and I must say that they look stylish too. It seems like a windy and cold day, and the fact that they are wearing comfortable and yet warm clothes just adds to the appeal. The mom is wearing stylish jeans (not the tight fitting type, but the comfy one) and the son is wearing the cargo. They both are wearing comfy outwear – the son with the yellow cute jacket and a scarf around his neck and the mom with her stylish coat. They are definitely having their own personal time together.

On the Background

Another mother-kid bonding can be viewed on the background. It is a coincidence where the mom-son bonding is the focus and the mom-daughter bonding is running in the background. You can see how comfortable and relaxed they are – having a stroll together, the daughter is probably telling a story while acting it out and the mom is listening while still holding her hands softly and yet firmly. It is a beautiful photography of moms and their kids together.

I was trying to capture the moments of modern people these days; how they would interact with one another and how they would do their daily activities. I had to do some modification and changes for the picture but I like the way the final result came out.

The Inclusion of Colors

For this photo alone, I include a lot of different colors. You can say that this is definitely a colorful picture. In some colors and areas, I enhance them so it would appear strong and brighter without compromising the natural sense. I also try to mix and match the colors; sometimes by introducing different contrast colors to make a statement. Different shapes and forms are also included so the final result will be rather odd but artistically appealing.

For instance, the half construction of the building construction with the industrial model and metal design looks odd and even out of the place with the rural background – but that’s how I expect the outcome will be. The all gray and silver building construction depicting a modern housing with its little elements looks totally odd when being paired up with the open field background. I wanted to make an impression of the modern housing construction located in the middle of nowhere in the rural area. The virgin green and yellow background with the open field construction and the striking blue sky is simply an amazing combination.

The Drama

Enough with the background and focus more on the setting of this photography. The couples are set to be the modern couples with edgy and eclectic taste. The woman has more color combinations than the man because it reflects different personalities and roles. She is a natural lover and she is into pets so much (at least, her dog is the center of her affection). She is vibrant and she is the queen of the house. With the vintage chair and her bare feet on the marble floor, she isn’t afraid to make a statement – or even control of the house.

The man, on the contrary, has a combination of rather an edgy style with a formal blazer and working shoes but he pairs them up with shorts and a bowler hat. He’s carrying a black rose, representing his flamboyant side but with a dark twist. He has a dark side in him that looks so contrast and yet appealing when matched up with the vibrant colorful aura of the woman.

The beauty of nature has never stopped to impress me. I always find it hard to believe that we are surrounded by such appealing and natural beauty – and yet we tend to take it for granted. Unfortunately, a lot of people are constrained to the indoor and not really want to take themselves outside. If only you had allowed yourself to enjoy more good time outdoor, you will be marveled at the natural shades, colors, and little elements of life intertwined themselves around you.

The Idea

When I took the picture, I simply imagined that it would be just a regular outdoor photography with the hiking activity as the basic focus. However, as I strolled around in a leisurely way, I found out more beauty and life around me. The way the leaves rustle, the vivid colors of the trees, and even the rays of sunlight appeal me in the way that I have never thought I would be captivated. During the walk, I realize that if you would only look closely, you will find such an enthralling and natural beauty that you may miss out. Let’s be honest, how many times in a day you step outside the door and marvel at the beauty around you? I believe not too often, right?

The Top Hiking

So, when I decided that I wanted to make an impressive shot of the day, I didn’t realize that it would be really easy. My camera was busy during the journey to the top but it was really busy when we reached the top. It didn’t stop taking pictures and shots because I was mesmerized by the natural view and the beautiful sceneries.

But then I took this shot and it simply blew my mind away. Everything seemed to be extremely perfect. The man is on the edge of the cliff with the perfect background of the sky. He was looking through his binoculars as if seeing the future and awaiting of the great things to come. I was more impressed by the play and combination of the natural colors. The green grass with some dry twigs, the gray strong stone, the mix of the white clouds, the peek of the blue sky, and the divine rays of the sunlight….everything seemed to create a great balance. The picture is like saying, “This is the world in a reality. These are the real colors of nature.”

Every child is entitled to their own dream but how they would make it come true depends on their efforts and their determination. After all, the childhood is a great moment and period where children are free to explore everything. They are free to decide what they want to be when they grow up and they are free to change their minds.

Do you remember your childhood? When you were a kid, how many dreams had you had? Have you ever wanted to be a pilot? Have you changed it to be a doctor or a firefighter? Are you living the dream of your childhood now? Kids are allowed to dream because it gives them hope and expectation. It would be great if such dream can be their solid support in achieving their final path in life. However, in case they can’t achieve it, it’s okay. If they have a loving and fun memory of the childhood, it is worth something. Well, at least that’s what I think.

The Simplicity in a Dream

I took the picture and I deliberately set it in a very personal and simple photography just to capture the moment. As I said before, I wanted to capture the moment where children are free to dream, to imagine what their future will be. That’s why I decided that this picture should be made simple and yet speaks a thousand words to those viewing it.

If you look at the picture, it is obvious that the kid in the picture wants to be a pilot. It is kind of obvious from the old-school and antique flying head cover, the goggles, and also the wooden plane on the background. He was shot while lying down in a relaxed way – just like kids usually do when they are daydreaming. I imagine that this particular kid likes to spend his time outdoor, lying on the grass on the open field, looking up at the blue sky and imagining himself flying the plane – soaring up to the sky.

The brown leather briefcase is just a symbol that he wants to do the flying as his professional job. He wants to be able to work on air, instead of being constricted on land. With a big smile, he dreams of what he will be one day and all the things he can do. It is such a great time for being a kid and for daydreaming.

Kids have a great imagination. They can turn everything into a real life experience as if they just experienced everything themselves. You can throw them different ideas and suggestions and they would act it out without doubts. They are such great dreamers with a vivid imagination.

For this photography, I wanted to make a marine or nautical theme but without having to include the water, the boat, and everything. These kids say that they could have acted it out as if they were being on a boat or a ship and they were being offshore. So I took their words to the heart and started making preparations for the photo.

The Preparation

There wasn’t anything fussy or complicated about the preparation. All I had to do was to prepare stripes elbow length shirts – which are so nautical. I picked blue because it would represent everything nautical – the blue sky, the blue water, and the blue background drop. I just picked the different shades of blue for the older sister (with a darker blue shade) so the shirts would look similar and yet have different shades and tone. The kids simply wore their favorite jeans – and the older sister wanted to fold the bottom ends a little upward.

They were sitting on the wooden floor, representing the deck of the ship. The background was a simple plain wall (cream, if I wasn’t mistaken) as if they were surrounded by the atmosphere of the ship itself. They were sitting and gathering in the middle as if they were in a small wooden ship, ready to sail through the water. They had their binoculars and everything ready so they could start their journey.

The Additional Props

To strengthen the nautical sense photography, I included some props and accessories that are related to the marine, water, and nautical. You can see the old-school and antique globe – which is important in every sail and water cruise. There was also a blue nautical buoy and the wooden wheel on the background. There was also a miniature sailing ship and a shell close to the kids, enhancing the atmosphere that they were being aboard the ship, instead of the floor.

They were great to work with. They came up with ideas of doing amazing poses so it would really look like they were sailing and ready to take some actions on the water. I picked this photo especially because of its simplicity. And yet it holds a lot of meaning.
